I rented for a while, then bought my first home — and only really learned how all of this works afterward, the hard way: property records, permits, violations, who owned what and when. Nosy Neighbor is what I wished existed while I was figuring that out. The goal is simple: help future renters and buyers understand what's actually out there, by putting the same public data anyone could dig up themselves in one place.
Nosy Neighbor covers New York City only — the five boroughs, and nowhere else. There is no partial or best-effort answer for an address outside NYC.
Everything in a report traces back to New York City's own public record systems: PAD and PLUTO parcel data, DOB and ECB violations, DOB permits, 311 complaints, ACRIS deeds and mortgages, LPC landmark and historic-district status, and FEMA and NYC flood layers.
